So, I guess this is my New Year’s resolution:
‘I hereby solemnly undertake to update my blog at least once per calendar week for the entirety of the 2011th year of our Lord. Oh, that and learn more Welsh. And be more organised. And do more washing-up.
Signed, Tchaik4’
There’s so much we can learn from sources secular and sacred alike; so much strength we can gain from learning from everything we encounter. As a wise man once said (and then turned into a tour, then filmed and sold on DVD I’m sure for a tidy profit): ‘Everything is spiritual’.
One of the many things Christmas taught me this year was that the fact that Jesus was fully divine and fully human is such an important thing. In response to this I’ve started to appreciate the connection between humanity and divinity: the humbling human-ness of God in Christ, and the sheer holiness of humankind. I’d like to share this with you by examining what we can learn from humanity’s handiwork; from all kinds of songs, some which hopefully push the boundaries of what we might consider ‘holy’, and collating this new-found knowledge right here on this blog.
An alternative hymn-book.
